Thank you for taking time to stop by my web-site. My name is Steve Dunn. I began making knives as a hobby in 1988 and in 1990 I enrolled in the basic forging class at the ABS school in Washington, Arkansas where I started forging my own Damascus steel. I progressed quickly through the apprentice, journeyman and in 1994 I reached the level of Master Bladesmith in the American Bladesmith Society and began teaching at the ABS knife-making schoool as a Master Smith. Finally in 2003 I was selected to serve on the ABS Board of Directors. In these next few pages, I would like to explain my methods of knife-making and show you some examples of my latest work.

All of my knives have forged blades, as I believe a properly forged blade has no equal when it comes to performance. Superior quality can be imparted in the steels that cannot be accomplished any other way. Along with forging, I believe the degree in which a knife is heat treated will determine how well it will perform. Each knife is tested for strength and durability before it leaves the shop. My guarantee is simple and straight forward. For as long as I am able to work, I will guarantee each knife against defects in workmanship, providing the knife is not abused. However, I cannot guarantee natural handle materials such as ivory, pearl, stag, or bone. Each knife is made one at a time and special attention is given to every detail.

I have always strongly believed in sole authorship in my knives. In April of 2002, I attended a basic engraving class at the GRS Engraving School in Emporia, Kansas. More recently, I have been studying bulino style engraving and am now an instructor at the GRS Engraving School. I thoroughly enjoy this and hope it shows in my work. I engrave both the knives that I make and can also do engraving on your guns.

I prefer 52100, 1084, or L-6 for my carbon steel blades. Depending on the application, I use a variety of carbon steels in the Damascus I make, including 01, L-6, 203E 1095, 1084, 1018 and pure nickel.

My basic knife styles include hunters, fighters, bowies, swords, battle axes, liner-lock, lock-back, slip-joint folders and one-of-a-kind pieces. All of these knives can be made in carbon steel or Damascus steel patterns.

Custom orders are welcomed. Feel free to Contact Me concerning any knife and engraving needs you may have. I will be happy to discuss your ideas and answer any questions you may have. Occasionally I will have knives available for immediate delivery. I have indicated these knives on my site and will update the site as knives become available. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
